Pay Scales
Depending on the position, the pay scales are as follows:
TGTs (Arts, Science), Hindi Teacher, Sanskrit Teacher | ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 (Pay Matrix Level-09) |
PET, Sevak/Sevika, Tribal Language Teacher | ₹23,600 – ₹74,800 (Pay Matrix Level-06) |
Educational Qualifications:
- TGT (Arts): Bachelor’s degree in Arts/Commerce or Shastri with a B.Ed.
- TGT (Science): Bachelor’s degree in Science/B.Tech/BE with a B.Ed.
- Hindi Teacher: Bachelor’s degree in Hindi and specific training qualifications.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to speak, read, and write Odia.
- Must pass the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET).

OSSC Recruitment 2024 Selection Process:
Written Test (Paper I & Paper II):
- Paper I: Common for all posts, covering General Knowledge, Arithmetic, Reasoning, English, Computer Literacy, and Pedagogy.
- Paper II: Subject-specific, based on the post applied for.
- Negative marking of 0.33 marks for incorrect answers.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 30% for reserved categories and 35% for general candidates.
Tribal Language Skill Test:
- Applicable for Tribal Language Teachers (TLTs).
- Candidates are selected based on merit from the written test.
- Oral language proficiency test, with a qualifying mark of 40%.
Provisional Merit List:
- Created based on the total marks from both papers.
- Candidates not appearing for the written test will not proceed further.
Document Verification:
- Candidates shortlisted after the written test and skill test undergo document verification.
- The verification ensures accuracy in the details provided during the application process.
Counseling:
- Shortlisted candidates are called for counseling.
- Final selection is based on merit and the choice of post and district.
Final Selection:
- A district-wise provisional selection list is published.
- The final selection is subject to verification by the appointing authority.
Result Publication:
- The results are published on the OSSC official website.
- Selection is provisional until confirmed by the relevant authorities.
